Onana injury update: Emery unsure for Forest clash

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has admitted he is uncertain whether midfielder Amadou Onana will be fit to face Nottingham Forest on Thursday night.

Onana misses Fulham defeat

The Belgian international was absent from Villa's 1-0 loss at Fulham on Saturday afternoon, where Ryan Sessegnon scored the only goal late in the first half. Lamare Bogarde deputised in midfield, ending Onana's run of nine consecutive Premier League starts.

Emery's update

Speaking after the match, Emery provided an update on Onana's condition when asked about his availability for the Europa League semi-final first leg. "I don't know if he will be available for Thursday," Emery said. "It's about how every day he is progressing. I don't know if he will be ready for tomorrow, Thursday or next Sunday. The only player we know can't play is Barkley as he is not in the list."

Villa will also be without winger Alysson for Thursday's European fixture, as he was not included in the squad for the knockout stages.
