Birmingham City FC Mourns Missing Fan Paul Pike After Tragic Discovery
Birmingham City Football Club has paid a heartfelt tribute to missing supporter Paul Pike, following the devastating news that a body was found during the search for him. Paul Pike, an 18-year-old fan who has autism and ADHD, disappeared after attending Birmingham City's match against Derby at Pride Park on Saturday, March 21.
Search Efforts and Tragic Outcome
It was believed that Paul's last known location was on a path near the River Derwent in Derby. In the days following his disappearance, police conducted extensive searches through undergrowth, discovering items thought to belong to Paul. The community rallied together, with people from both Derby and Birmingham travelling to assist in the search efforts.
At approximately 10:30 AM on March 29, officers involved in the search located a body. Paul's family has been informed of this tragic development. Derbyshire Police have stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious, and there is no believed third-party involvement, with a file being prepared for the coroner.

In response to the heartbreaking news, Birmingham City FC shared a poignant message on social media. The club expressed deep sadness over the loss of one of their own, Paul Pike, and extended gratitude to all who supported the search, including West Midlands and Derbyshire Police, as well as volunteers from both cities.
The tribute read: "Everyone at the Club is deeply saddened by today’s news about one of our own, Paul Pike. We are grateful to all those—both in Derby and back here in Birmingham—who gave their time and support during the search in recent days, including both West Midlands and Derbyshire Police, who have been working tirelessly in the background. The compassion shown reflects the very best of our footballing community. Our thoughts and condolences are with Paul’s family, friends, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time."

The football community has united in grief, with fans leaving numerous messages of condolence and support for Paul's family. Many suggested tributes during upcoming matches, such as a round of applause in the 18th minute to honor Paul's age. One fan commented: "Fly High Paul love to the family, the football family sticks together during times like these, so touching to all supporters out there looking for Paul in Birmingham and Derby. We will all celebrate during 18 mins whether the club announces it or not. KRO."
Another supporter added: "Should never lose a football family at such a young age, thoughts are with you, Cov fan x." Meanwhile, a third proposed: "Can we pls do a round of applause on the 18th min on Fri as a mark of respect pls for Paul and his family! Also the derby volunteers who organised the search are coming to our home game Fri they need some kind of appreciation for what that have done the last week."
