Runners of all abilities are being encouraged to lace up their trainers and participate in the Blythe House Hospice Chatsworth 10k this autumn. The event returns for its 18th annual edition, offering a scenic challenge with a powerful purpose to support a crucial local cause.
Event Details and Scenic Backdrop
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Chatsworth House estate in the Derbyshire Dales, the 10k run is scheduled for Sunday, September 13. Participants can look forward to a memorable running experience that combines physical challenge with breathtaking views. While many sign up to achieve personal bests or tackle new running goals, organisers emphasise that the event transcends mere competition.
Supporting Local Hospice Care
The primary aim of the Chatsworth 10k is to raise funds for Blythe House Hospice, which provides compassionate care, practical support, and comfort to local individuals and their families. Notably, only 28 percent of the hospice's running costs are covered by the NHS, with the remaining 72 percent reliant on community support through initiatives like this event, charity shops, and donations.
Every stride taken by runners contributes directly to keeping care local and free for families in need. Rachael Gee, fundraising and events coordinator at Blythe House Hospice, highlighted the event's impact, stating, "The Chatsworth 10k is always a fantastic day, bringing together runners of all abilities for a shared purpose. While many people sign up to challenge themselves, the real impact is the difference it makes for local families who rely on hospice care."
Community and Sponsorship Support
The success of the event relies heavily on community and business backing. Early Bird Registration and Participation
Early bird entry is currently open until Saturday, May 31, offering runners the opportunity to secure their place at a reduced rate. Last year's event was the largest to date, and organisers hope to see even greater participation this September to make the 2026 edition even more special. Gee added, "Every runner who takes part helps us continue providing care, support, and comfort when it's needed most."
