Derby's First Pickleball Club Launches in April

Derby Welcomes Its First Dedicated Pickleball Club This April

Derby is set to launch its inaugural dedicated pickleball club this April, providing an exciting opportunity for beginners to experience one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK. The new Pickleball Collective will be hosted at Derby Arena, offering a fun and social environment that blends elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

Led by a National Champion

The club is spearheaded by Emma Owen, a gold medallist at the Bolton National Championships, who has witnessed pickleball's ability to unite hundreds of players in communities across the country. Emma emphasizes that the club is designed for everyone, from absolute novices to former tennis and badminton enthusiasts seeking a new and engaging challenge.

Pickleball is played on a compact court using lightweight paddles and a plastic ball, with straightforward rules that facilitate fast-paced rallies. This combination not only promotes physical exercise but also fosters quick friendships, making it an ideal activity for those looking to improve their fitness, social connections, or both.

Session Details and Accessibility

The club will commence with a Taster Session on Wednesday, April 1, from 10am to 11:30am, followed by weekly Beginner Sessions starting on April 8. All necessary equipment will be provided, so participants need only bring trainers and a water bottle to join in the action.

This initiative marks a significant addition to Derby's sporting landscape, offering residents a unique way to stay active and connected. With its inclusive approach and expert leadership, the Pickleball Collective is poised to become a popular destination for sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
