Izzy Hammond Escapes Uninjured from Dramatic Formula E Crash in Saudi Arabia

Izzy Hammond, daughter of television presenter Richard Hammond, has walked away completely unharmed after being involved in a serious crash during a Formula E influencer event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred while she was participating in the Evo Series, which features prominent figures racing around the track in Formula E cars.

Details of the Crash and Immediate Aftermath

Just over a minute into her lap, Izzy collided with a bollard at the side of the track during the duels event, where two teams set flying laps with the quickest time earning a point for their respective team. According to reports, she entered a corner too quickly before striking the barrier, resulting in her car being completely wrecked.

Debris from the collision was scattered across the track as Izzy exited the damaged vehicle and was examined by medical staff. She was later heard on the radio reassuring her team that "I'm fine, I'm fine" in response to enquiries about potential injuries. The safety car was subsequently deployed for medical checks, with Izzy later seen leaving the wreckage.

Influencers and Commentary on the Incident

Other influencers at the event, including Sidemen stars Behzinga and Vikkstar, watched on anxiously as the crash unfolded. Formula One legend David Coulthard, who was commentating on the event, noted that Izzy had "caught the back end" of the car during the incident.

When asked about what happened, Izzy stated that her brakes failed to halt the car and she turned into the corner as she attempted to apply them. Many of those involved watched on with concern, but thankfully Izzy emerged from the incident without any physical harm.

Izzy Hammond's Motorsport Background and Family History

Given her father's career, it comes as little surprise that Izzy has established herself as an influencer in motorsport. She boasts 279,000 followers on Instagram and had been sharing updates on her story prior to the event and crash.

Her father Richard, from Solihull, has also experienced his share of serious car accidents. The former Top Gear presenter required an air ambulance to hospital after a crash in 2017 in Switzerland when he was driving a £2million supercar that lost control and caught fire.

The incident highlights the inherent risks of motorsport events, even those involving influencers rather than professional racers. The fact that Izzy walked away unharmed from such a dramatic crash speaks to the safety measures in place at Formula E events, though the complete wreckage of her car demonstrates the severity of the impact.
