Leeds United Face Injury Setback Ahead of Premier League Fixture
Leeds United have encountered a significant injury blow as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa this Saturday. Forward Noah Okafor has been ruled out of action for approximately two to four weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during the FA Cup fourth round match at Birmingham City.
Manager Daniel Farke Confirms Okafor's Absence
In a press conference held at Thorp Arch, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke addressed the media regarding the team's injury status. He confirmed the unfortunate news about Okafor, stating, "Yes, sadly, Noah Okafor has suffered an injury in the last cup game, a hamstring injury. He will be out for between two and four weeks. It is a bit too early to judge, but he will definitely miss the next two games, so definitely the Villa game and also the Man City game."
Positive Updates on Returning Players
Despite Okafor's setback, Farke provided some encouraging updates on other squad members. Anton Stach, Pascal Struijk, and Dan James have all returned to training and are available for selection. Farke elaborated, "Apart from this, just good news. Anton Stach back in training, available. Pascal Struijk back in training, available. And also Daniel James is back. Hopefully he stays also fit right now, but it looks good. All three are back in training."
Team's Physical Condition and Challenges
Farke also commented on the overall physical demands of the Premier League season, noting that Leeds United ranks in the top two for physical output per game. He acknowledged the challenges of maintaining player fitness, especially during the tough February pitches, but remained optimistic about the squad's position. "We are in a more or less really good position. So from the first team players at the moment, just now Okafor is out. And at this stage, February, the pitches are tough. A long season already in. So it is overall not too bad," he said.
He further addressed recent defensive adjustments, stating, "It was a bit challenging in the last weeks that we had to change a lot our back five or back four. This was a bit challenging at times, but we don't complain, we take it as it is."
