Tyrone Mings has spoken out about Tammy Abraham's return to Aston Villa, expressing strong confidence that the striker will make an immediate impact at the club. The defender, who recently returned from injury himself, shared his thoughts on Villa's new signing in an exclusive interview.
Abraham's Villa Return
Tammy Abraham has completed a transfer from Besiktas to Aston Villa in a deal worth £18 million, marking his return to the club where he previously enjoyed significant success. During the 2018/19 season, Abraham scored an impressive 26 goals across all competitions, playing a crucial role in helping Villa secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Mings, who was teammates with Abraham during that memorable campaign, highlighted the striker's previous contributions and expressed optimism about his ability to replicate that form. "Another 20 goals would be nice, wouldn't it! Tammy is a fantastic player and a fantastic person," Mings stated enthusiastically.
Immediate Impact Expected
The January transfer window presents unique challenges for new signings, as Mings acknowledged. "I think it is important for any team when players sign in January, they really need to hit the ground running," he explained. "You don't have the time to bed in or get up to speed in terms of fitness."
However, Mings expressed no doubts about Abraham's ability to adapt quickly. "But Tammy is a bright guy, as well as a great footballer. He knows a lot of people here and I have no doubt he will be a great addition to the squad." Abraham could make his second Villa debut as early as this weekend against Brentford.

The interview also touched on Mings' personal journey back to fitness following a hamstring injury sustained against Liverpool in November. The defender returned to action last week against Fenerbahce after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"The team have been amazing and I think that model of consistency and demonstration of consistency is something we have been striving for, for years," Mings reflected. "You can see now how everyone is contributing something in the squad. Whether you start or come on, we are going to need everyone between now and the end of the season."

Mings also shared his perspective on the current atmosphere at the club, describing it as an exciting period for supporters. "For the fans it is an amazing time to be a Villa fan," he said. "I don't think it is something we should ever take for granted."
