Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Celebrates Sporting Excellence at Active Awards

The Hinckley and Bosworth Active Awards ceremony, held at Hinckley Rugby Club, has honoured local sporting heroes for their outstanding contributions to community health and activity. The event, designed to recognise the positive impact that sport and keeping active can have on residents across the borough, saw Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Mark Bools, present awards to winners who were able to attend on the night.

Special Guests Add Star Power to Celebrations

Special guests Jayant Mistry and Vicky Macqueen graced the stage throughout the evening, adding their expertise and inspiration to the proceedings. Jayant Mistry made history as the first British player to win the wheelchair men’s doubles title at Wimbledon in 2005 and now works as a coach. Vicky Macqueen is a former England international rugby player and ex-head coach of Hinckley RFC, bringing a wealth of experience to the celebration.

Council Deputy Leader Praises Winners and Nominees

Councillor Mark Bools, Deputy Leader of the Borough Council, expressed his delight at the event, stating: “It was a wonderful evening celebrating all our Active Awards winners and nominees. My congratulations and thanks go to everyone involved. Your contributions and hard work are valued here in Hinckley and Bosworth. Long may your successes continue.” His words underscored the council’s commitment to fostering a vibrant sporting community.
