Birmingham's Women in Sport Day Before Stadium Reveal

Birmingham City Football Club is set to host a landmark event celebrating women's sport this Sunday, just days before the highly anticipated design reveal for its new stadium.

A Trio of Teams Unite

The inaugural Knighthead Women in Sport Day will see three clubs owned by Knighthead join forces for the first time at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park. Birmingham City Women will be supported by sister clubs Birmingham Panthers (netball) and Birmingham Phoenix (cricket).

The event aims to bring together followers of all three teams, with a series of taster sessions planned to engage the community. This collaborative effort underscores a significant commitment to elevating women's athletics in the region.

Fixture Details and Broader Vision

The centrepiece of the day will be the Blues Women's league fixture against Portsmouth. This marks their ninth match of the season, and the team is currently second in Women’s Super League 2, pushing for promotion to the top flight.

Ticket prices have been set accessibly, starting at £3 for children and £8 for adults, encouraging a wide audience to attend.

Looking ahead, Knighthead's ambitious Sports Quarter development is central to this vision. The future complex is planned to include a dedicated stadium for Blues Women and an indoor arena suitable for the Birmingham Panthers, with the goal of establishing it as the premier hub for women's sport in England.

Leadership and Inspiration

Blues chairman Tom Wagner shared his enthusiasm for the event, stating it aims to inspire and unite women and girls across the city through a shared passion for sport.

"This day will be a powerful celebration of the incredible talent, dedication and progress of women athletes," Wagner said. "It underscores our unwavering commitment to the women’s game. Let’s put smiles on faces and make it a memorable step forward together."

The event serves as a powerful precursor to the grand unveiling of the game-changing Sports Quarter stadium design, expected next week.
