Birmingham City Extend Ryan Allsop's Contract Until 2028
Birmingham City Extend Ryan Allsop's Contract

Birmingham City have moved to secure the services of experienced goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, activating an option to extend his stay at St Andrew's.

New Deal for Golden Glove Winner

The club has confirmed a one-year extension to Allsop's existing terms, which will now see his contract run until the summer of 2028. This reward comes on the back of an outstanding individual campaign during the 2024/25 season.

Allsop, now 33, was a pivotal figure as Birmingham City romped to the League One title in record-breaking fashion. His performances between the posts earned him the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets in the division.

A Proven Track Record

Since his arrival from Hull City in 2024 on an initial three-year deal, the goalkeeper has built an impressive statistical record. In his 53 appearances for the Blues, he has managed to keep the opposition out on 26 occasions.

This season, he has already contributed clean sheets in home victories against Oxford United and Swansea City in the Championship, despite recently being supplanted as the first-choice keeper by James Beadle.

Eyes on the Premier League Prize

Speaking about his future earlier this year, the boyhood Blues supporter made no secret of his enduring ambition. "I still want to play in the Premier League and I know the club is very ambitious," Allsop stated.

He emphasised that his move to Birmingham was not a step towards retirement, but a chance to propel the club forward. "It fits. I haven't come here to slow down... I want to make sure we get back to where we belong and in my eyes that's seeing the club play in the Premier League," he added, highlighting a shared vision for the future.

This contract extension signals the club's faith in his experience and mentality as they continue their campaign in the second tier.
