Blues Cut Short Pendleton's Yeovil Spell

Birmingham City have taken decisive action by recalling young defender Byron Pendleton from his season-long loan at National League side Yeovil Town. The 19-year-old right-back's temporary spell has been cut short following a period of limited opportunities at Huish Park.

Managerial Changes Disrupt Development Plan

Pendleton initially established himself as a regular starter under former Yeovil manager Mark Cooper, making 10 National League starts and four substitute appearances for the Glovers. However, the departure of Cooper in September triggered a period of instability that significantly impacted the teenager's playing time.

Danny Webb briefly took charge, with Pendleton completing the full 90 minutes in his only match - a 1-0 defeat to Tamworth - before Webb's sudden departure for family reasons. The subsequent appointment of Richard Dryden, previously Cooper's assistant, saw Pendleton used sparingly, missing Yeovil's last two matches entirely.

What Comes Next for Blues Prospect

Birmingham City have confirmed Pendleton will now link up with Mark Kennedy's under-21s squad at the club's training ground. The defender, who captained Blues' U21 side last season and signed a contract extension until 2027 earlier this year, is expected to seek another loan move to continue his development at senior level.

This marks the second early return from Yeovil this season, following striker Ben Wodskou's recall last month. Pendleton's 14 appearances in the National League represent valuable experience for the promising full-back, though Birmingham's hierarchy clearly believe his development will be better served elsewhere following the managerial merry-go-round at Yeovil.
