Birmingham Airport has rolled out a significant new service in partnership with EasyJet, designed to streamline the travel experience for millions of passengers. The airline's free Twilight Bag Drop scheme is now operational, allowing travellers to check in and deposit their luggage the night before an early morning departure.
How the Twilight Bag Drop Service Works
The service is specifically tailored for passengers booked on flights departing before 9am. It enables them to visit the airport between 4pm and 8pm on the day before their flight to hand over their hold luggage. This is completely free of charge, provided passengers have already checked in online or via the EasyJet app and have their boarding pass ready.
This initiative aims to save valuable time on the actual day of travel. By dealing with bag drop the evening before, holidaymakers can walk straight into security the next morning, bypassing the often lengthy check-in queues. It's a particular boon for those seeking an extra hour in bed before an early start.
Parking Incentives and Wider Rollout
Understanding that passengers will need to drive to the airport to use the service, EasyJet and Birmingham Airport are offering a parking incentive. Those dropping off bags can receive discounted parking for one hour in the Premium Set Down car park. To claim this, travellers simply need to show their bag drop receipt when exiting.
Birmingham is one of eight UK airports now offering this convenient pre-flight option, reflecting a growing trend in the industry to ease airport congestion and improve the customer experience.
Official Statement and Future Travel
Kevin Doyle, EasyJet’s UK country manager, commented on the launch. "We are always looking for new ways to make travel as easy as possible," he said. "We are really pleased to be introducing our free Twilight Bag Drop service for our customers flying from Birmingham Airport."
Doyle added that the service supports the airline's focus on offering greater choice and value, whether customers are heading for winter sun, a ski trip, or a seasonal break. The move is expected to be widely welcomed by families and all travellers looking to reduce pre-flight stress.
