UK Snow Alert: Jet2 & Ryanair Warn of Airport Delays as Storm Goretti Hits
Jet2 and Ryanair warn of UK airport delays due to snow

Major airlines have issued warnings to passengers about potential delays and disruption at UK airports, as further wintry weather is forecast to sweep across parts of the country.

Storm Goretti Brings Fresh Snow Warnings

The alerts come in the wake of Storm Goretti, which earlier this week brought heavy snowfall and freezing conditions to many regions. The Met Office has now predicted additional snowfall for Sunday, 11 January 2026, prompting concerns for travel over the weekend.

Both Jet2 and Ryanair have proactively contacted customers, advising them that their journeys could be affected. The airlines are closely monitoring the developing situation as the cold snap continues.

Airlines Advise Passengers to Stay Updated

In a statement, Jet2 confirmed its operations team is tracking the UK weather forecasts for the period from Saturday, 10 January, to Monday, 12 January 2026. The carrier acknowledged that the Met Office's amber warnings for high winds, rain, sleet, and snow could lead to some schedule interruptions.

"We plan to operate our flights as close to schedule as possible, however, there may be some disruption should the weather or the forecast deteriorate," a Jet2 spokesperson said. The airline urged all customers to check in as scheduled but to be prepared for potential longer waits at the terminal or onboard aircraft.

Jet2 also emphasised that it will contact affected travellers directly via text or email, advising passengers to ensure their contact details are up to date via the 'manage my booking' section online or on its app.

Potential for De-icing Delays

Meanwhile, Ryanair has warned of potential disruption to and from the UK on Saturday, 10 January, specifically citing delays caused by essential aircraft de-icing procedures. The budget airline encouraged all passengers scheduled to travel to or from the UK to monitor the latest updates through the official Ryanair app.

Both carriers have apologised in advance for any inconvenience, reiterating that passenger safety remains their top priority during the challenging weather conditions.

Travellers are strongly advised to check their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport this weekend.
