Missing Bus Timetables Mystery Solved in Black Country After Resident Confusion

The mystery surrounding missing bus timetables in the Black Country has finally been resolved, bringing relief to local residents who were left puzzled and unable to check bus operation hours. The issue came to light when a BirminghamLive journalist was approached by an elderly woman in Sedgley, Dudley, on Monday, March 30.

The resident was seeking information about bus times on Gospel End Road, where timetables for the number 27A and 27 buses were notably absent from the standard bus poles. This left her unable to scan the QR code printed above where the paper schedules should have been, as she lacked the necessary technology.

Journalist Steps In to Assist

The journalist, Hannah Ahmed, took it upon herself to scan the QR code for the woman, providing the needed bus times before continuing her walk. Shortly after, she discovered a second bus stop with missing operation times at the Cotwall End Road and Brownswall Road location.

Interestingly, other bus stops in the area were found to have paper timetables intact, highlighting the irregular nature of the issue at these two specific stops. The missing timetables created significant inconvenience for passengers relying on this essential travel information.

Transport Authority Responds

After being contacted for comment, Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) has confirmed that fresh copies of the timetables will be installed at the affected bus stops in the coming days. A spokesperson for TfWM explained the situation, stating that printed timetable information is provided at all bus stops in the region.

“Unfortunately this can be subject to vandalism, denying this travel information to those who need it,” the spokesperson said. “Passengers can report a missing timetable via email at fixitreporting@tfwm.org.uk and we will replace it as soon as possible. This missing timetable has been reported to us and a fresh copy will be installed in the coming days.”

The quick response from TfWM underscores their commitment to maintaining reliable public transport services and addressing community concerns promptly. Residents are encouraged to report any similar issues to ensure timely replacements and maintain accessibility for all passengers.
