London's Vintage Buses Return for Charity Rides, Raising Thousands for Cancer Research
Vintage London Buses Raise £2,400 for Cancer Research UK

The London Bus Company is extending a warm invitation to passengers across the capital to join a series of unique and nostalgic journeys aboard its meticulously preserved fleet of vintage buses. These special trips are not just a trip down memory lane; they form the heart of a significant charitable fundraising initiative that has already generated an impressive £2,400 for the vital work of Cancer Research UK.

A Surprise Start on Route 252

The fundraising campaign commenced unexpectedly on January 17th, delighting commuters and transport enthusiasts alike. Four beautifully restored vintage buses were deployed into active service on the Route 252, operating their regular schedule between Hornchurch and Collier Row. This surprise appearance created a buzz of excitement and nostalgia amongst the travelling public.

A spokesperson for the initiative expressed their gratitude, stating: "The public's reaction to seeing these historic buses in service has been wonderful, and their generosity towards Cancer Research UK is truly heartwarming. It's fantastic to combine our transport heritage with such a worthwhile cause."

Upcoming Opportunities to Ride and Donate

For those who missed the initial journeys, there are two more excellent opportunities to experience these rolling pieces of history while supporting a crucial charity.

Event One: Epping Ongar Railway

On Sunday, February 15th, a selection of the vintage buses will be a central attraction at the Epping Ongar Railway’s ‘Odds and Sods’ bus event. This gathering is a must-visit for transport aficionados, offering the chance to see, photograph, and ride on these classic vehicles. Tickets for the event are available for purchase.

Event Two: Route 103 Fundraiser

The vintage bus fundraising tour continues on Saturday, March 7th. One of the cherished buses will be back in revenue-earning service, traversing Route 103 between Rainham and Romford. Every journey taken on this day will contribute directly to increasing the total funds raised for Cancer Research UK, allowing passengers to be part of a meaningful community effort.

This innovative project by The London Bus Company successfully bridges heritage preservation with contemporary philanthropy, offering Londoners a unique way to travel while making a tangible difference in the fight against cancer.
