A key Midlands A-road has been shut down in both directions after a crash, causing significant disruption for drivers in the Black Country.
Road Closed Following Collision
The incident occurred on the A459 Dudley Street in the Sedgley area of Dudley. Authorities have implemented a full closure of the route between the junctions with A463 Gospel End Street and A457 Tipton Street.
It remains unclear how many vehicles were involved in the collision. However, it appears that West Midlands Ambulance Service was not called to the scene, suggesting there may not be serious injuries.
Severe Traffic Disruption
Motorists are being warned to expect lengthy delays and find alternative routes. The closure has led to slow traffic building in the vicinity, with congestion reported to be stretching back to the Bull Ring roundabout in Sedgley.
The disruption comes during the busy Christmas period, impacting many drivers going about their business. Traffic monitoring service Inrix confirmed the closure and the resulting slow traffic in the area.
Official Warnings Issued
West Midlands Roads issued an alert on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating: "A459 Dudley Street between High Holborn and Tipton Street, Sedgley. Road closed both ways. Collision. Expect delays."
Drivers are strongly advised to avoid the area while emergency services and recovery teams deal with the incident. The road is expected to remain closed for some time.
