Birmingham Road Sealed Off After Bus Collision Leaves Car Overturned
A major Birmingham road was completely closed to traffic following a serious crash involving a bus and a car, which ended up overturned on its roof. The incident occurred on Shirley Road, near the junction with Warwick Road in the Acocks Green area, shortly after 8:30 PM on Monday, March 30.
Emergency Services Swiftly Respond to the Scene
Police, fire crews, and ambulance services rushed to the location immediately after the collision was reported. The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 8:35 PM to reports of a collision between a car and a bus on Shirley Road.
One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene, where they assessed one patient, a man, for minor injuries. He was treated and discharged at the scene, avoiding the need for hospital transport.
Fire Service Secures the Area After the Crash
A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Fire Service stated that they were alerted at 8:38 PM to the road traffic collision involving two vehicles—a bus and a car. Three crews from Hay Mills and Billesley fire stations were dispatched, with the first arriving by 8:45 PM.
The fire service personnel worked to make the vehicles and the road safe, completing their operations and leaving the site by 9:30 PM. During this time, Shirley Road was sealed off, and Warwick Road was blocked by the overturned car, believed to be a Vauxhall.
Roads Cleared Before Morning Rush Hour
Both Shirley Road and Warwick Road remained closed for several hours as emergency teams managed the aftermath of the crash. However, all closures were lifted and the roads were fully cleared before the start of the morning rush hour, minimizing disruption to commuters and local traffic.
This incident highlights the swift coordination of emergency services in Birmingham, ensuring public safety and efficient road management following unexpected accidents on key city routes.
