Emergency services were scrambled to a Birmingham street this morning following a collision between a JCB digger and a private hire taxi.
Scene of the Collision
The incident occurred on Bordesley Green East, close to the junction with Richmond Road, at approximately 10.35am on Thursday, January 8. Multiple police units and a fire engine attended the scene, leading officers to implement a full road closure to deal with the aftermath.
Footage from the location showed a red car, bearing stickers for private hire firms Bolt and Veezu, with significant damage. Behind a police cordon marked with red tape, a line of double-decker buses could be seen waiting for the road to reopen.
Emergency Response and Traffic Management
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police confirmed to BirminghamLive that they were called at 10.35am. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the crash. No arrests were made, with police focusing on managing traffic around the affected area.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was not required to attend. The taxi was subsequently recovered from the crash site, and the digger was moved to the side of the road.

West Midlands Roads issued an alert on social media platform X, warning drivers of the blockage. The post advised motorists to "Plan Ahead: Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible."
