According to the latest forecasts, snowfall is predicted to hit Birmingham overnight into Monday, February 16. The city could then experience further wintry weather on Wednesday, February 18, as temperatures plummet. The most substantial accumulation is forecast for Friday, February 20, with up to four inches of snow possible in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands area.
Met Office Forecast and Colder Conditions
In a new update, the Met Office has highlighted a likelihood of some snow from February 11 onwards due to the establishment of colder conditions. Their forecast for the period of February 11 to 20 states: Predominantly cyclonic patterns are expected to dominate the UK. The early part of this period could see colder conditions becoming established more widely for a time, bringing with it the likelihood of some snow.
The Met Office further notes that milder and wetter weather may persist in the far south, but by the end of this period, the track of Atlantic depressions could shift northward. This shift is expected to maintain broadly unsettled weather, with further spells of rain and potentially strong winds at times.
