Woman Dies in Hospital After M5 Crash

A woman has tragically died in hospital following a crash on the M5. The woman, who was in her 20s, succumbed to her injuries after the collision on Sunday, May 10.

The single-vehicle collision involved a blue BMW 1 Series and occurred at approximately 2:15 am. A stretch of the motorway was closed to allow investigation work at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward. The incident took place between junction 24 (Bridgwater) and junction 25 (Taunton).

In a statement, the force said: "We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage following a fatal collision on the M5 on Sunday morning (May 10). Officers were called to a single vehicle collision involving a blue BMW 1 Series, between junction 24 (Bridgwater) and junction 25 (Taunton), at around 2:15 am. Sadly, a woman in her twenties died from her injuries in hospital."

The woman's family has been informed and is being supported by officers. The M5 was closed while initial investigations were carried out at the scene.
