British Gas has launched a new fixed energy tariff, the PeakSave Super Saturday Tariff, which provides customers with half-price electricity every Saturday from 9am to 5pm. This 13-month fixed tariff is designed to help households complete energy-consuming activities during cheaper hours, supporting them in managing their usage and reducing their bills.
Background of the New Tariff
The new Saturday tariff follows the strong uptake of the existing PeakSave Super Sunday Tariff, which offers the same half-price electricity window on Sundays. By expanding its off-peak options, British Gas is giving customers more flexibility in choosing the day that best suits their lifestyle and typical electricity usage patterns.
How Customers Can Benefit
Customers can take advantage of the half-price hours to perform everyday tasks such as preparing meals, running appliances, and charging devices. The PeakSave scheme, launched in 2023, rewards customers for shifting their energy use and supporting a greener energy system. To date, 1.4 million households have signed up, collectively saving nearly £47 million and shifting 53,709 MWh of energy consumption.
Additional Savings Opportunities
British Gas also offers competitive tariffs for electric vehicle (EV), solar power, and heat pump customers, providing cheaper electricity overnight. Customers with a smart meter on any British Gas tariff can join PeakSave and benefit from half-price electricity every Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
How to Sign Up
British Gas customers with a smart meter can find out more about PeakSave and how to switch to the PeakSave Super Saturday or Sunday tariffs through their online account by visiting the British Gas website.
