Professional advisory firm Deloitte has announced the appointment of Andrew Wright as its new practice senior partner for the South West and Wales, taking over from Dave Tansley. This strategic move sees Wright, a veteran with close to three decades of experience at the firm, stepping into a leadership role overseeing a combined team of 2,300 professionals across the region.
A Career Rooted in Deloitte
Andrew Wright joined Deloitte in 1996 and became a partner in 2012, building a robust career within the organization. He currently leads Deloitte’s audit business in both Bristol and Cardiff, while also serving on the national Deloitte Private leadership team and the global audit transformation group. In his new capacity, Wright will be responsible for steering the firm’s strategic direction throughout the South West and Wales, focusing on growth and client impact.
Transition from Dave Tansley
Dave Tansley, who has led the firm in the South West and Wales for the past two years, will continue as a partner at Deloitte, focusing on key initiatives until his retirement in May. During his tenure, Tansley played a pivotal role in consolidating Deloitte’s presence in the region. He spearheaded the firm’s relocation to its new Bristol headquarters in the Halo Building at Finzel’s Reach, enhancing its status as a leading employer. Additionally, he accelerated growth in Wales, including the expansion of the Cardiff Delivery Centre.
Vision for the Future
In a statement, Andrew Wright expressed optimism about the region’s prospects, highlighting innovation in advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and the digital economy as drivers for sustainable economic growth. “My career has been rooted in the South West and Wales, and I know first-hand the depth of talent, expertise, and potential that we have here,” Wright said. “I am committed to developing that talent and ensuring we continue to make a tangible impact on our clients, people, and communities.”
Wright also acknowledged Dave Tansley’s contributions, noting his exemplary leadership and the collaborative culture he fostered. “He has left a strong foundation for future growth,” Wright added.
Reflections from Dave Tansley
Dave Tansley reflected on his 32-year career with Deloitte, describing his recent role as an exciting final chapter. “It has been immensely rewarding to support the growth of our people and witness the enthusiasm and expertise they bring to sector-leading projects across the region,” Tansley stated. His departure marks the end of a significant era for the firm in the area.
Continued Leadership in Key Offices
Ian Howse, senior partner for Wales, and Sam Hart, office senior partner for Bristol, will continue to lead their respective offices, ensuring continuity and stability during this transition. Their ongoing roles underscore Deloitte’s commitment to maintaining strong local leadership while adapting to new strategic directions under Andrew Wright’s guidance.
