Lloyds Bank Completes £116m Halifax Office Revamp, 3,500 Staff to Benefit
Lloyds Bank £116m Halifax office refurbishment complete

Lloyds Banking Group has unveiled the results of a massive £116 million investment into its landmark Halifax headquarters, a project set to directly benefit 3,500 of its employees.

A Modern Hub for Yorkshire's Future Talent

The extensive overhaul of the 317,000 square foot building on Trinity Road has transformed it into a contemporary, inclusive, and sustainable workplace. Crucially, the redesign also pays homage to the site's rich historical heritage.

This office is now a central hub for developing skilled professionals in Yorkshire. It will host nearly 100 students undertaking apprenticeships, graduate placements, and T Level qualifications. These individuals, many from local colleges like Calderdale and Kirklees, are gaining crucial hands-on experience in vital areas such as digital and cyber security.

Well-being and Inclusion at the Forefront

The refurbishment was driven by a focus on colleague welfare and accessibility. New features include:

  • Fully accessible changing places toilets.
  • Braille signage throughout the building.
  • Dedicated contemplation rooms for quiet reflection.
  • A free, on-site fitness space with classes led by local instructors.

Leadership and Partnership Praise Major Investment

West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin welcomed the development, stating it was a "fantastic vote of confidence in Calderdale and the wider region." She highlighted that Lloyds is "investing in our regional talent pipeline" by creating high-quality opportunities in key digital and business sectors. Mayor Brabin added that the bank is "setting the bar high for how businesses can preserve our heritage whilst embracing innovation."

Scott Camp from Wates Smartspace, the project partner, called the refurbishment "a true example of what can be achieved through collaboration." He emphasised the shared vision with Lloyds to "combine sustainability and innovation with social impact for the benefit of people and communities."

The completion of this project marks a significant commitment by Lloyds Banking Group to both its workforce and the economic future of West Yorkshire, blending historic preservation with a forward-looking, people-centric design.
