Barclays has issued guidance for customers concerned about their debit cards approaching expiration dates. The bank, which operates branches in Birmingham, has clarified the timeline for card replacements and offered advice on managing cards through its app.
When Will You Receive Your New Card?
A customer recently asked Barclays on X (formerly Twitter): "My debit card expires 06/26. When am I likely to receive my new card?" Barclays responded: "All debit cards are sent out 5 weeks before the current card expires. It can take up to 7 working days to arrive after it has been sent." The bank also invited the customer to send a direct message for further assistance.
How to View Your Cards in the Barclays App
Customers can check their bank cards in the Barclays app by tapping 'Your cards' on the home screen, just below the account balance. This displays all registered cards, including Barclays and Barclaycard. Users can also make changes to their cards from this section.
Forgotten Your PIN?
If you have forgotten your PIN, you can view it through the Barclays mobile app or online banking.
Barclays Warning on Ticket Scams
Barclays is also urging fans to stay alert when buying tickets for major summer events, including the UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and Harry Styles' tour. UK adults expect to spend £225 on tickets this summer, but high demand is driving some toward unregulated purchases. Seven in 10 Gen Zs (70 per cent) said they would turn to unofficial routes like social media if official tickets were sold out.
Scam Statistics
One in 10 UK adults (11 per cent) have encountered a ticket scam in the past three years. More than half (56 per cent) fell victim, and a quarter (24 per cent) lost money, averaging £215. Gen Zs are particularly at risk, with three in 10 (31 per cent) encountering scams and 26 per cent losing money.
Government Action and Public Awareness
The UK Government’s proposed resale rules, which would ban ticket resales above face value, are a positive step toward tackling inflated prices. However, public awareness remains high: 76 per cent of UK adults say they would still be cautious about potential scams occurring outside official channels.
