Nationwide is set to make a major announcement regarding bonus payments for millions of customers on Thursday. Members have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of whether the £100 annual payments will be distributed again by Britain's largest building society.
Fairer Share Scheme
The payments are part of Nationwide's Fairer Share scheme, which has benefited millions of customers since its launch in 2023. Customers do not need to apply; they simply need to meet straightforward eligibility criteria. If eligible, payments will be made automatically.
Announcement Details
Nationwide will announce whether the bonus payments will be issued this year on Thursday, May 21. The building society has hinted that payments are likely to continue. Bosses have expressed a desire to provide the reward annually, but confirmation typically comes with the end-of-tax-year results in May, with payments following in June.
If confirmed, customers with a Nationwide current account, along with either a savings account or mortgage, will receive the payment. The money will be deposited automatically into bank accounts during June.
Scheme Objectives
The Fairer Share scheme rewards customers who conduct most or all of their banking with Nationwide. It also aims to attract new customers from rival banks to benefit from the cash reward.
A Nationwide spokesperson commented on the 2026 Fairer Share scheme: "Nationwide aims to make a Fairer Share payment again this year, subject to financial performance and Board approval. Any announcement, including eligibility criteria and amount, will be made on May 21 at Nationwide's end-of-year financial results."
