Santander has issued an urgent alert to its customers across the UK, encouraging them to ensure they have a minimum of £100 in their accounts ahead of a significant deadline this Sunday.
The £100,000 Christmas Opportunity
The bank is running a massive prize draw in the lead-up to Christmas, with a top prize of £100,000. In a communication to customers, Santander suggested the life-changing sum could be used for a deposit on a new home, a major adventure, or to provide a little financial freedom.
To be automatically entered into the draw, customers must hold a minimum combined balance of £100 across their Santander current and/or savings accounts. The critical snapshot date for this balance is 30 November 2025.
How to Enter and Protect Yourself
Entry is designed to be straightforward. Eligible customers simply need to click a designated button in the communication sent by the bank to be entered. Santander has simultaneously used this promotion as an opportunity to reinforce vital security advice for its customers.
The bank emphasised that it will never ask you to log on to Online or Mobile Banking through a link in an email. It also confirmed it will never request personal information such as passwords or security details.
To help customers identify genuine communications, Santander stated it will always address emails personally and include identifying information such as the last four digits of an account number or the last three characters of a postcode.
Vigilance Against Fraud
Santander's warning included crucial reminders to help customers protect their money. Customers are advised to never share a One Time Passcode (OTP) with anyone, not even someone claiming to be a Santander employee.
Another key piece of advice is to never move money to a new account for security reasons, as this is a classic scam tactic. The bank urges everyone to verify who they are communicating with and to forward any suspicious emails that do not meet their security criteria to phishing@santander.co.uk.
With the deadline of midnight on Sunday, 30 November 2025, fast approaching, eligible Santander customers have a limited time to ensure their account balances qualify them for a chance to win the substantial Christmas prize.
