Santander warns customers: act by Sunday or lose £1,000

Santander, which has branches in Birmingham, has confirmed that customers need to act by Sunday or risk missing out on £1,000. The bank shared an update on its social media channels urging customers to enter a prize draw.

The bank stated: "Fancy £1,000 to accelerate your savings? To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is: Like this post, Follow us on Instagram @santanderuk, and Comment 'CANADA' below."

The giveaway is open to Santander UK savings and current account customers only. The prize draw closes on Sunday 24 May 2026, with one entry per customer. Full terms and conditions can be found in the bank's bio.

Winners will be contacted through the official @santanderuk Instagram account. The bank warned: "Be cautious of any other accounts messaging you claiming to be Santander, it will be a scam."

New appointments at Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking

On the same day, Santander announced the appointment of Joanne Preston as Managing Director, Client Coverage, and Ben Stephenson as Managing Director, Product and Origination within the Corporate and Commercial Bank.

In her new role, Joanne will manage teams covering corporate clients, commercial clients, Commercial Direct, and client services, bringing together all coverage teams focused on trading businesses.

John Baldwin, CEO at Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking, said: "I am delighted to welcome Joanne and Ben to the team at a time of strong growth for our business. Both bring a huge amount of experience, leading large teams focused on our target markets: Joanne has extensive knowledge of working with international clients and Ben, a proven track record of generating growth."
