Virgin Media Unveils Free Easter TV Upgrade and £250 Bill Credits
Virgin Media is launching a significant free TV upgrade this Easter, aiming to rival competitors like Sky while offering substantial incentives for new customers. The provider has announced a special content boost available at no extra cost, featuring a wide array of films, live music performances, and documentaries. This promotion runs from Saturday, March 28, to Sunday, April 12, coinciding with the school holidays when many families are enjoying a break.
Free Ultra HD Channel Access
During the Easter period, Virgin TV customers can access the Ultra HD channel on channels 228 and 999. This channel delivers family-friendly films, iconic rock and roll gigs, and a selection of documentaries, all ad-free and in crystal-clear picture quality. Titles include popular shows like Cobra Kai, Daniel Radcliffe's Playmobil: The Movie, and the 2020 horror film The Invisible Man. Existing customers can tune in with their current subscription, while those without one can take advantage of the deal by signing up for Virgin's £31.99 Entertainment bundle.
Competitive TV Packages and Upgrades
Virgin Media is promoting its Entertainment bundle as the lowest price ever for more than 200 TV channels, a Netflix subscription, and 362Mbps fibre broadband. This package will receive further upgrades on April 1, with the addition of Sky Atlantic alongside existing channels like Sky One, Sky Comedy, and Sky Crime. For movie enthusiasts and sports fans, Virgin offers the £42.99 Cinema bundle, which provides thousands of films on demand, and the £52.99 Sport bundle, packed with nine Sky Sports channels.
At the higher end, the £76.99 Max Volt bundle includes all these channels combined with 1,130Mbps fibre broadband and an unlimited data SIM at no extra cost. However, a caveat to Virgin's 24-month packages is that while customers will face no price rise this year, bills will increase by £4 from April 2027, a policy also seen with rival brands like BT.
Bill Credits and Comparison with Sky
In a move to attract new customers, Virgin Media is offering up to £250 in bill credits to cover early termination charges from their current provider. This deal is available only until April 1. Comparatively, Sky has confirmed that its Ultimate TV bundle will rise by £2 this April, from £22 to £24, but it still includes free subscriptions to HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, Hayu, and discovery+, along with more than 135 channels. This makes Virgin's promotion particularly appealing for those looking to switch providers ahead of the Easter upgrade.
Executive Statement and Customer Benefits
David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, commented on the deal, stating, "Virgin Media's ultrafast broadband network delivers the best possible way to enjoy crystal-clear TV entertainment, and with the availability of our exclusive UHD channel to all our TV customers at no extra cost over the Easter fortnight, we are hoping to brighten their springtime." He added that the long weekend and school holidays provide an opportunity for families to spend quality time together, and Virgin aims to offer fun and informative content through this TV boost.
Overall, Virgin Media's Easter promotion combines a free TV upgrade with financial incentives, positioning it as a strong competitor in the market. Customers interested in enhancing their viewing experience this spring should consider these offers before the April 1 deadline.
