In a groundbreaking move for the British tourism industry, Drayton Manor Theme Park has announced it will keep all its major thrill rides operational throughout the Christmas season for the first time in its 75-year history.
Rollercoasters Meet Reindeer: The Festive First
Drayton Manor will become the only UK theme park to operate its biggest attractions during December, marking an unprecedented departure from traditional seasonal closures. This bold initiative covers weekends throughout the month and the entire week between Christmas and New Year, offering adrenaline seekers the chance to experience rollercoaster action amidst festive decorations.
Popular rides including Gold Rush, The Wave, and Maelstrom will all be available to visitors, combining traditional Christmas magic with high-octane entertainment. The park's managing director, Victoria Lynn, stated this forms part of their 75th-anniversary celebrations, aiming to make Christmas at Drayton Manor "bigger and better than ever before."
Beyond the Rides: A Full Festive Experience
The innovations continue with the launch of Britain's largest end-of-day show, 'Christmas Miracle', included in the standard ticket price. This spectacular production features a 30-metre water screen composed of 65 choreographed water jets, enhanced with fire effects, lighting, and festive animations that transform the park's lake into a breathtaking visual display.
Between November 22 and December 31, visitors can enjoy an extensive programme of festive activities including mischievous elves, cookie decorating sessions, marshmallow toasting, snowball fights, and storytime with Mrs Claus in the Castle Grotto. Santa himself will be available for meetings following reindeer food making activities.
Inclusive Festivities for All Families
Demonstrating commitment to accessibility, Drayton Manor has introduced special provisions for families with SEND children. A calm workshop and inclusive Santa experience ensure every child can participate in the magic, while family shows will run throughout the park on the Main Stage and in Thomas Land.
Additional entertainment includes pantomime performances at the Falls Theatre and the Twinkling Express train ride around Adventure Cove. With tickets priced at £25, the park positions itself as an affordable premium day out during the festive season, offering what Victoria Lynn describes as "an epic day of exhilarating fun for all the family."
