John Lewis has announced a major overhaul of its in-store dining experience, rebranding all 32 of its cafes under a new concept called Platter John Lewis. The move is part of a multi-million pound investment aimed at enhancing the customer experience across the retailer's estate, which includes a store in Solihull.
What Is Platter John Lewis?
Platter John Lewis will replace the long-standing The Place To Eat brand across all 32 cafes. The new concept is designed to offer a more modern and welcoming environment for customers to relax, meet, and enjoy food and drink while shopping. The refurbishment and rebranding will be completed by the end of 2027, with the first updates already underway.
Investment in Hospitality
This initiative is part of John Lewis's broader £800m multi-year investment in its brand, stores, and customer experience. Hospitality currently accounts for more than 20% of in-store transactions at John Lewis, with 62 cafes and restaurants across the estate. The retailer aims to give customers more reasons to visit and spend time in its shops.
Katie Papakonstantinou, Director of Services & Hospitality for John Lewis, said: "Customers are spending more time in our shops, and food and drink is an increasingly important part of that experience. Platter John Lewis will give customers a more modern, welcoming place to pause, meet and enjoy something delicious while they shop."
She added: "This is an exciting investment in our hospitality offer and an important part of how we're making John Lewis shops even better places to visit. We're pleased to get the first refurbishments underway and look forward to opening our flagship at Oxford Street this summer."
Partnership with Benugo
John Lewis has partnered with hospitality specialist Benugo to transform and operate the new restaurants. This partnership builds on an existing ten-year relationship, with Benugo already running cafes under its own name in 10 John Lewis shops. Platter John Lewis will sit alongside other hospitality offerings such as Benugo, Ori cafes, Huffkins tea rooms, Jamie Oliver Cafe, and Kamakura at Oxford Street.
While introducing a refreshed menu, Platter will retain customer favourites and popular My John Lewis membership offers, including free hot drinks and cake. The investment underscores John Lewis's commitment to enhancing the overall shopping experience and adapting to changing customer preferences.
