BMW 3 Series Named Best Automatic Car in UK, Porsche Second
BMW 3 Series Tops UK Automatic Car Rankings

The best automatic cars to drive in the UK have been officially ranked, with the BMW 3 Series taking the top spot, according to reviewers at Auto Express. The 3 Series was praised for being “great to drive”, having “excellent infotainment” and “frugal yet potent engines”. However, the experts also noted issues such as “high list prices”, “slightly lifeless steering”, and the threat of “electric rivals”.

Shane Wilkinson, senior content editor at Auto Express, said: “The latest 3 Series retains its driver appeal, punchy performance and impressive frugality, but has added a more luxurious driving experience.”

Porsche 911 and Citroën C3 Hybrid Follow

The Porsche 911, starting at £103,700, ranked second. Despite “superb driver engagement” and a “high quality cabin”, the car is expensive to buy and may not suit those on a limited budget. Third place went to the Citroën C3 Hybrid, which was praised for its frugality.

The mid-range ‘320D’ boosts power to 187bhp and still achieves around 55mpg, while the flagship ‘330D’ has a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 261bhp and manages a claimed 47.1mpg.

Prices on the second-hand market start at £17,000 for a low-mileage 320D, while a 330D model can be picked up for £28,000, according to Auto Express.
