Birmingham's most stolen car brands have been identified following the release of new data from the West Midlands. While Ford remains the most commonly stolen vehicle in the region, figures indicate that criminals are increasingly targeting other popular models.
Ford Still Top, but Thefts Decline
According to the latest statistics, Ford recorded the highest number of vehicle thefts in the West Midlands. However, overall thefts for most car brands have decreased. Ford's popular models, such as the Focus and Fiesta, have long been prime targets due to their high numbers on the road and strong demand for spare parts.
Rising Thefts for Toyota and Mitsubishi
Despite the general decline, thefts of Toyota vehicles rose by 7.6 percent, while Mitsubishi thefts surged by an alarming 64 percent. This suggests that thieves are now focusing on these brands. Toyota's reputation for reliability and high resale value may make it an attractive target.
Following Ford, the most stolen car brands in the region are Toyota and BMW. Nissan, Mercedes, and Land Rover also feature prominently on the list. The data highlights a shift in criminal attention, with older models often targeted for parts and newer ones for export.
