Howe Confirms Woltemade's Future Amid Villa Links

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made his stance clear on Nick Woltemade's future, amid reports linking the forward with a move to Aston Villa. The Germany international, who joined Newcastle from VfB Stuttgart for £69m last summer, is reportedly attracting interest from several Champions League clubs.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Villa are one of three Champions League sides interested in the 24-year-old. Woltemade, Newcastle's record signing, endured a mixed first season under Howe.

Mixed Debut Season at Newcastle

Woltemade started strongly, scoring the winner on his debut and adding four more goals in his first 11 appearances. However, his form dipped, and he managed only five goals in his next 34 games, raising questions about his best position.

Despite the inconsistency, Howe has repeatedly backed the forward. Speaking in May, the Newcastle boss said: “I have said so many times, I really value and really like him. We are working really hard with him to help him. We will continue to develop his game, and I think he's got a really bright future here.”

Howe's Plans for Next Season

Howe's comments suggest Woltemade remains in his plans for the upcoming season. The manager's public support indicates that the club is not actively looking to sell the striker, despite external interest.

Aston Villa, who are preparing for another Champions League campaign, are understood to be monitoring the situation. However, with Howe's firm stance, any potential move for Woltemade appears unlikely at this stage.
