Wolves head coach Rob Edwards has admitted that turning his side into a free-flowing attacking force is not an easy task, as the team has struggled in front of goal all season. With Wolves already relegated, fans have been calling for a more attacking approach, but Edwards remains cautious.
Edwards on the Team's Limitations
Edwards stopped short of directly criticizing his players but acknowledged that Wolves are the worst team in the league. 'It’s not that easy,' he said. 'Everyone needs to realise we're bottom of the league, every other team is better than us, so it's not that easy to just go and attack more.'
Game Plan and Reality
The head coach explained that he always prepares a game plan focusing on pressing, defending, and transitional moments. However, he emphasized that facing superior opponents makes it difficult to simply attack. 'I can't just go, “right, tell you what lads, today let's just go and attack.” It's not that simple,' Edwards added.
Player Comfort and Positions
Edwards stressed the importance of putting players in positions where they feel comfortable. 'I can't ask anyone to be a square peg playing in a round hole either. We're still trying to put people in the right positions to be as good as they can be,' he said. Despite the intentions, the reality on the pitch remains challenging.
