Chef Adam Stokes has announced the closure of The Oyster Club on Temple Street, a Michelin Guide restaurant in Birmingham city centre, prompting an outpouring of support from the community. The restaurant, a sister to the long-standing Michelin Star restaurant Adam's on Waterloo Street, will serve its final meal on Saturday, July 11.

The Oyster Club opened in April 2019 and was known for its fresh oysters, caviar, small plates, and a popular Sunday roast. The announcement was made on Friday, June 26, just weeks after fellow leading chef Andreas Antona closed Michelin Star restaurant Simpson's in Edgbaston.

Writing to customers online, the restaurant said: "After many wonderful years, the time has come for us to say farewell to Birmingham. The Oyster Club will be opening its doors for the final time on Saturday July 11. Local hospitality venue champion Independent Birmingham responded: "Ahhhh, really sorry to hear this. It's absolutely brutal for indie hospitality right now. My thoughts to you and the team."
