A beloved soft drink flavour has made a triumphant and permanent return to supermarket shelves across the United Kingdom, nearly a decade after it was discontinued.
A Decade-Long Wait Comes to an End
Coca-Cola's Diet Cherry Coke is now back on sale for good, ending an eight-year wait for its legion of fans. The drink, which offers the familiar taste of Diet Coke with a distinctive fruity cherry twist, has been reinstated as a permanent fixture following a successful limited-edition run. It was originally removed from shelves in 2018 and was temporarily replaced by Diet Coke Feisty Cherry until 2020.
From Limited Edition to Permanent Fixture
The drink's comeback trail began in October 2025, when it was trialled as a limited-edition product in retro packaging at Tesco. The response from consumers was overwhelmingly positive, prompting the brand to make the return permanent. Tara Byrnes, senior brand manager for Diet Coke Great Britain, confirmed the news, stating: "We are delighted to announce that Diet Coke Cherry will be joining the Diet Coke family permanently."
Ms Byrnes added: "Fans asked for it, and loved the retro limited edition launch while it was here! With a bold flavour and new look, Diet Coke Cherry continues to encourage fans to make Diet Coke breaks reflect ‘your taste’ even more."
Where to Find the Returning Favourite
Shoppers can now find Diet Cherry Coke at major retailers nationwide. It is available in a variety of formats to suit different needs, including:
- 300ml cans
- 500ml bottles
- 2-litre bottles
- 8-pack multipacks of 330ml cans
- 24-pack multipacks of 330ml cans
The return has sparked celebration on social media, with one excited customer posting a picture from Sainsbury's with the caption: "Cherry Diet Coke is baaaack!" Others had previously expressed their longing online, with one fan writing: "Actually begging for cherry diet coke to be widely available. cherry coke zero does NOT hit the same." Another simply stated: "Diet cherry coke? yes pls."
