New Well Home Shop Opens in Former M&S Birmingham Store with Half Price Offers
New shop opens in former Birmingham M&S with half price deals

A prominent retail unit on Birmingham's High Street, left empty for over two years, has finally welcomed a new tenant. The former Marks & Spencer store, a landmark site for over a century, is now home to a Well Home household supplies shop, launching with a series of half-price opening offers.

Filling a High Street Void

The large M&S unit closed its doors for the final time on November 6, 2023, after trading from the location since 1904. Its closure left a significant gap on the key shopping thoroughfare leading to the Bullring. For more than two years, shoppers passed by the boarded-up facade until the arrival of Well Home, which specialises in a wide range of domestic products.

What's in Store at Well Home?

The new retailer has moved into the prime city centre spot, stocking an extensive array of household essentials. Shoppers can now browse items including:

  • Bedding, rugs, and soft furnishings.
  • Pots, pans, kitchen equipment, and dinner sets.
  • Toys, suitcases, and various cleaning supplies.

The opening is marked by special promotional discounts, with many items available at half price for a limited time. This follows the brand's expansion into other UK locations such as Watford and Reading.

Future Plans for the Iconic Site

The current retail offering may be a temporary chapter for the site. In April 2025, developer BlueCastle Capital purchased the unit with ambitious redevelopment plans. Their vision involves creating a 'transformational' residential-led development, promising high-quality homes and modern amenities for future tenants.

This retail revival comes alongside other confirmed new openings for the Bullring area in 2026, signalling ongoing changes to the city's retail landscape. The historic M&S branch itself relocated in late 2023 to a new two-storey space within the Bullring, on the site of the old Debenhams store.
