Poundland to close 30 stores in restructuring: Full list of closures
Poundland store closures: Full list for Dec & Jan

Discount retailer Poundland is set to close a significant number of its high street branches in the coming weeks, as a major restructuring plan continues to reshape the chain.

Ongoing Restructuring Sees Branches Axed

The move follows the acquisition of the business by Gordon Brothers for a nominal sum earlier this year. As part of the resulting overhaul, company bosses determined that the estate needed to be reduced from around 800 shops to a target of between 650 and 700 locations nationwide.

This process of consolidation began in October and is now moving into a new phase, with a fresh wave of closures scheduled for December 2025 and January 2026. In total, around 30 stores have been earmarked for closure under the plan.

December and January Closure Dates Confirmed

The first of this latest batch of shutdowns took place today, December 4, with the branch in Melton Mowbray closing its doors for good.

Shoppers in the West Midlands will see their local store close next, as the Droitwich branch is set to shut down on December 9. The final closure of the year will be the Hempstead Valley location on December 31.

The retailer has confirmed that the closures will continue into the new year. The Bexhill store is scheduled to close on January 5, 2026, followed by the Cameron Toll branch on January 20, 2026.

According to reports, these specific closures are linked to lease expirations, as outlined in the restructuring agreements. It is not yet known if further closures will be announced beyond these dates.
