Following his time at Nottingham Forest, Pelling spent two years with Bristol City. He initially served as the head of the club's academy before taking on the role of chief executive for just over a year. His career then included a brief ten-month stint as head of finance for Bolton Wanderers before he joined Stoke City, where he spent eight significant years in the Potteries.
At Stoke City, Pelling took over as head of finance in 2017 and played a crucial role in helping the club navigate the complex landscape of PSR regulations. He was part of the club's senior management committee and also held a position with the English Football League (EFL).
EFL Involvement and Regulatory Expertise
Pelling's expertise extended to participation in an EFL working group that was actively debating potential changes to PSR rules. Many clubs had hoped these changes would be implemented this summer, but progress has been delayed due to the ongoing legal challenge involving Manchester City.
Recognized as something of an expert in navigating PSR regulations, Pelling was brought in by West Bromwich Albion back in the autumn to troubleshoot the club's finances.
