Samsung Galaxy S26 Pre-Orders Go Live with Major Retailer Offering £450 Freebie
Samsung has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, during the annual Unpacked event in San Francisco. Pre-orders are now open across multiple UK retailers, with Sky Mobile leading the charge by offering a substantial free tech bundle worth up to £450 for early adopters.
Pricing and Launch Details
The Galaxy S26 series is set to launch in the United Kingdom on March 11, with outright purchase prices starting at £879 for the standard S26, £1,099 for the S26+, and £1,279 for the top-tier S26 Ultra model. For consumers preferring to spread the cost, Sky Mobile has confirmed monthly contract plans beginning at £30 for the S26, £38 for the S26+, and £44 for the S26 Ultra.
Sky Mobile's Generous Pre-Order Incentives
Sky Mobile is distinguishing itself with an attractive pre-order promotion available until March 10. Customers who secure a Galaxy S26 or S26+ will receive a complimentary Galaxy Watch8, valued at £319. Those opting for the S26 Ultra will get a free Galaxy Watch8 Classic, worth £449. Additionally, all pre-orders through Sky come with a double storage upgrade at no extra cost, meaning buyers get a 512GB model for the price of the 256GB variant.
Important considerations: Sky Mobile's contracts include a minimal 100MB data allowance, so most users may need to upgrade to larger data plans. The provider also notes that prices 'may change' during the mandatory 36-month minimum term.
Alternative Retailer Offers and Specifications
Other retailers have also rolled out competitive pre-order deals. Mobiles.co.uk, backed by Currys, offers the standard S26 for £34.99 per month plus a £9 upfront fee with 100GB of data. Three provides unlimited data plans starting at £35.89 monthly plus £40 upfront for the S26, and £46.89 per month plus £50 upfront for the S26 Ultra. EE's plans are slightly higher, with the S26 at £47 per month plus £30 upfront for 125GB of data, but include access to EE's advanced 5G+ network in select areas.
For outright purchases, pre-order prices remain consistent across major retailers like Samsung.com and Amazon. The Galaxy S26 series is available in four colour options: Cobalt Violet, Black, White, and Sky Blue. Key features across the range include AMOLED displays, the Exynos 2600 processor, enhanced wireless charging speeds, and upgraded AI capabilities.
Standout Features of the S26 Ultra
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, described as the most powerful ever in a Galaxy phone. It boasts a slim 7.9mm frame, making it the thinnest Ultra model to date. The device includes a 200MP camera and introduces a innovative Privacy Display feature, which obscures screen content from side angles to prevent unwanted viewing.
David Snelling, Technology Editor at The Mirror, who attended the Unpacked event, praised the S26 Ultra's Privacy Display as a 'clever feature the iPhone can't match.' He noted, 'Once activated, content magically disappears if you aren't staring directly at it, protecting your privacy in public spaces.' Snelling also highlighted improvements in battery charging, with the device capable of reaching 75% charge in just 30 minutes, along with enhanced night photography and video stabilization.
However, Snelling observed that the S26 Ultra's design remains largely similar to previous models, with only minor tweaks to the camera bump. He added that the series benefits from significant Galaxy AI upgrades, including features like Now Nudge, which offers contextual suggestions based on user activity.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series are currently available through Sky Mobile, Three, EE, Samsung, and Amazon, with devices shipping ahead of the official March 11 release date.
