Over 30 Animals Rehomed in 'Adoptober', But Shadow the Cat Still Waits
Adoptober Success: Over 30 Animals Find Forever Homes

The RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Animal Centre is celebrating a remarkable wave of successful adoptions, dubbing the past month 'Adoptober' due to its incredible success. The centre confirmed that more than 30 wonderful animals found their forever homes throughout October, bringing immense joy to the team.

A Strong Start to November

The positive trend has continued into the new month, with November already seeing 16 more lucky pets settling into their new families. Despite this fantastic progress, the centre's attention is now focused on one particular resident who is still waiting for his perfect match.

Meet Shadow: The Handsome Resident Still Waiting

Shadow is a stunning three-year-old black cat with sleek fur and soulful eyes. He originally arrived at the centre as a stray who had been attempting to sneak into houses where kind people were feeding him.

It quickly became clear that Shadow did not enjoy life in the cattery, finding the pods too confining. The team moved him to a foster home, where he initially was shy and unsure, having never lived fully indoors before. With time, patience, and plenty of love, Shadow began to relax and would even come forward for strokes when he felt ready.

The centre believes Shadow will thrive in a forever home with access to the outdoors, as he loves his freedom. While he may never be a cuddly lap cat, he shows his affection in quieter, more loyal ways. He is also very food-motivated, making treats the quickest way to win him over.

The Ideal Home for Shadow

Shadow would be best suited to a calm home with an established feeding routine to help him feel secure. He has shown he is gentle with other cats, especially kittens, and could potentially live with a cat-savvy dog.

The centre recommends a home with children aged 10 and over, who will understand that all interactions must happen on Shadow's terms. If you can offer Shadow the love, space, and understanding he deserves, you are encouraged to visit the RSPCA website to complete an adoption application.
