Aldi's Post-Christmas Clear-Out: Donate Warm Clothes & Unwanted Gifts
Aldi urges shoppers to clear out items for charity

Aldi is calling on customers across the United Kingdom to kick off the new year with a generous post-Christmas clear-out. The supermarket giant has launched a charity appeal, urging shoppers to donate warm winter clothing and any unwanted festive gifts.

How to Donate Your Unwanted Items

The scheme, run in partnership with The Salvation Army and InPost Lockers, is active right now and will continue until January 6. It offers a simple, convenient way for households to pass on good-quality items after the festive period.

Shoppers can donate a range of items, including:

  • Warm coats, hats, scarves, and gloves.
  • Unwanted Christmas gifts in good condition, such as toys, health and beauty products, and homeware.

To take part, customers must first visit a dedicated Aldi online portal to enter their details and generate a free postage label. After printing and attaching the label to a securely sealed package, donations can be dropped at any InPost locker located at Aldi stores nationwide.

Packages must not exceed dimensions of 41cm x 38cm x 64cm. Donors will receive a notification once their items have been safely received by the charity.

Vital Support for Communities This Winter

The donated items will be resold by The Salvation Army at affordable prices, with all proceeds funding essential support services for people facing hardship. Winter is a particularly challenging time, and access to warm clothing can be a lifeline.

Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, commented: “Whether it’s a warm coat you no longer need or an unwanted Christmas gift that could brighten someone else’s day, this appeal is a simple way for shoppers to support their local communities.”

He added that using InPost Lockers makes donating “quick and convenient,” highlighting the retailer's pride in collaborating with The Salvation Army to provide vital support through the colder months.

Charity Leaders Praise Generous Initiative

Shaunacy Burne, Corporate Donation Manager at Salvation Army Trading Company, explained the significant impact of the donations. “Donated items will be sold to generate funds that provide essential support for those facing hardship,” she said.

Burne expressed sincere gratitude to Aldi and its customers, noting that their generosity enables the charity to deliver practical help to those who need it most during a difficult season.

Paul Selvey, Network Director at InPost UK, emphasised the ease of the process. “This partnership makes donating as simple and easy as dropping off a parcel. By registering and generating a free postage label, shoppers can donate via InPost Lockers as part of their everyday routines, at a time that suits them.”

The initiative provides a perfect opportunity for a post-holiday declutter while ensuring quality items find a new home and contribute to crucial charitable work.
