Artist's Tribute to Music Legend Mani Generates Over £11,000 for NHS Charity

In a heartfelt gesture following the tragic passing of Manchester music icon Mani in November last year, artist Mark Reynolds has raised an impressive £11,292 for Stockport NHS Charity. Mark, who operates online as 'Stuff by Mark', created a tribute portrait of the legendary Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist in action, which quickly caught the attention of fans and well-wishers.

From Art to Action: A Fundraising Success

After being contacted by numerous admirers requesting prints, Mark decided to sell them with all proceeds dedicated to one of Mani's favourite causes, Stockport NHS Charity. This charity was particularly significant to both Mani and his late wife Imelda, who passed away in 2023, as they were major supporters, expressing gratitude for the care Imelda received at Stepping Hill Hospital during her cancer treatment.

The substantial donation will be used to enhance the environment and care for future patients at Stepping Hill Hospital and community NHS services in Stockport. Recent projects supported by the charity include newly renovated rooms in the neonatal unit, allowing new parents to stay close to their babies during challenging times, a new therapy garden for rehabilitation and mental health benefits, and dementia-friendly blue crockery to help patients see their food better, encouraging eating and strength gain.

Heartfelt Tributes and Community Impact

Mark Reynolds shared his motivation, stating, "Mani has been a big hero of mine ever since first hearing The Stone Roses as a teenager. His loss has been a tragedy felt by fans throughout the world. It's been an absolute privilege to have been able to help raise money for a cause so close to his heart. The response to the prints is a testament to the love people have for him, both for music he made and for the person he was."

Kate Leadbeater, Stockport NHS Charity manager, expressed deep gratitude, saying, "Mark is a truly talented artist. This is the most amazing tribute to Mani and such a kind, generous, extraordinary special donation in memory of Imelda and Mani. We are extremely grateful and send our heartfelt thanks to Mark and each and every person who purchased a print."

This initiative not only honors the legacy of a beloved musician but also supports vital healthcare improvements, showcasing the power of community and art in making a tangible difference for patients and families in need.
