Burton Community Centre Receives £5,000 Boost for Inclusive Garden
Burton Centre Gets £5,000 for SEND Garden Equipment

A vital community hub in Burton upon Trent has secured a significant financial injection to enhance its facilities for local families. The Queen Street Neighbourhood Resource Centre, a cornerstone of support in the area, has been granted a £5,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North Midlands.

A Generous Donation for Community Enhancement

This substantial sum was awarded through the housebuilder's Community Champions initiative, a programme designed to support local projects and organisations. The funding is earmarked specifically for the improvement of the centre's community garden, with plans to acquire new equipment tailored for children and individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Timeline for the Garden Upgrade

Work on installing this much-needed equipment is scheduled to commence in April, with the project expected to be fully completed by the end of May. This swift timeline ensures the community will benefit from the enhanced facilities in time for the spring and summer seasons.

Official Handover and Community Impact

The cheque was formally presented during a visit by Kevin Pryor, the Technical Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands. Mr. Pryor took the opportunity to tour the centre and witness firsthand the valuable work it undertakes within the Burton community.

Natasha Walker, a representative from the Queen Street Neighbourhood Resource Centre, expressed her gratitude, stating: "We would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their generous donation of £5,000 to the centre. The money will allow us to provide some much needed SEND equipment to our community garden. This will give the local community of all ages and abilities a safe space to play, grow and enjoy."

Supporting an Inclusive Space

Kevin Pryor echoed the sentiment, highlighting the centre's role. He said: "It was inspiring to visit Queen Street Neighbourhood Resource Centre and see the positive impact it has on the local community. The centre provides a welcoming and inclusive space for families, and we’re proud to support their work through our Community Champions initiative."

This investment underscores a collaborative effort to foster inclusivity and provide accessible recreational opportunities. The upgraded garden will serve as a vital resource, promoting outdoor activity, social interaction, and sensory engagement for residents of all abilities in Burton upon Trent.
