Cardiff Fundraisers Scale Principality Stadium for MS Society
Cardiff Stadium Challenge Raises £9,500 for MS Society

Brave Fundraisers Conquer Cardiff Stadium Rooftop for MS Charity

A determined group of fifteen fearless fundraisers recently took on the exhilarating Scale the Stadium challenge in Cardiff, all in support of the vital work of the MS Society. The event provided a unique and thrilling way to raise both awareness and crucial funds for people living with Multiple Sclerosis across Wales and the wider United Kingdom.

An Unforgettable Triple-Threat Adventure

The experience began high above the Welsh capital, as participants embarked on a daring traverse across the iconic rooftop of the Principality Stadium. This initial phase offered breathtaking panoramic views across the cityscape, a rare perspective reserved for the boldest of adventurers. The adrenaline-fueled journey continued with an exhilarating zip line ride, adding a surge of speed to the aerial exploits.

The grand finale involved a heart-pounding abseil descent down to the final touchdown point, completing a remarkable trio of challenges. Despite facing cold and testing weather conditions throughout the day, the spirits of all involved remained resolutely sky-high. Smiles and a powerful sense of accomplishment were evident as each fundraiser successfully completed the demanding course.

Personal Motivations and Community Spirit

The day concluded on a celebratory and sweet note, with cake served to honour St Dwynwen's Day, providing a perfectly Welsh-themed finish to an unforgettable collective experience. Thanks to the extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment demonstrated by everyone involved, the team has already raised an impressive sum exceeding £9,500 for the MS Society. These funds will directly help support individuals living with MS and contribute to funding vital research initiatives.

Participant Catherine Doherty shared her heartfelt reasons for taking part, stating: "Scale the Stadium for MS Society was by far the best event I have done for a charity. The reason I chose this event is my best friend Jess has recently been diagnosed with MS; she's only 38. She wanted to do it but her amazing husband was a little worried, so instead I did it on her behalf. It was fabulous, three events in one! The climb over the roof and the view of the pitch from above was spectacular."

Another participant, Chloe Jo Morgan, emphasised the profound personal significance of the challenge: "Taking part meant so much more to us than just the challenge itself. We did it because my sister Katie was diagnosed with MS in July 2024. It’s a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts, and being able to do something together to support the MS Society felt really important. Standing up there, taking it all in, really puts things into perspective."

Supporting a Vital Cause in Wales

The Scale the Stadium challenge forms a key part of MS Society Cymru's ongoing fundraising efforts. The organisation is dedicated to supporting the approximately 6,111 people in Wales and more than 150,000 across the UK who live with Multiple Sclerosis. The funds raised are critical for providing support services and financing research aimed at developing better treatments and ultimately stopping the progression of the condition.

Ceri Bevan, from MS Society Cymru, expressed profound gratitude: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in Scale the Stadium. Every donation is helping us change lives, and the dedication shown by our fundraisers to make a difference means the world to us and the communities we serve."

The successful event highlights the powerful impact of community-driven challenges, combining personal determination with a shared goal of supporting those affected by MS. The participants' efforts have created a lasting legacy of support and hope, demonstrating how collective action can lead to meaningful change for important health causes.
