Channel Rotary's Foodbank Collection at Tesco Cheriton Exceeds One Tonne
Channel Rotary Foodbank Collection Exceeds One Tonne

Channel Rotary has once again demonstrated its long-standing commitment to the Shepway Foodbank, operated by the Rainbow Centre, with a highly successful collection event at Tesco Cheriton this month. Members, friends, and their partners gathered at the store to encourage customers to donate food items, resulting in an overwhelming outpouring of generosity.

Community Generosity Shines

The annual event never ceases to amaze participants with the kindness of shoppers. Some donated just a couple of items, while others contributed entire bags or even trolley loads. Even young children were eager to participate, reflecting the community's spirit of giving. Many customers expressed their support, with some recalling how the Foodbank and Rainbow Centre's services had helped them in the past, now wanting to give back.

Remarkable Results

The collection surpassed expectations, generating more than a ton of groceries. Wendy Lehnert from the Rainbow Centre expressed delight: "Thanks to your tremendous tenacity, we successfully collected an astounding 1,043.5kg of much-needed stock. This phenomenal achievement — surpassing the one-tonne mark — will directly benefit five of the Rainbow Centre’s essential services, including: Breakfast Club, Homeless Support Services, FoodStop, Foodbanks, and Pantries. Your hard work ensures that we can continue providing vital nourishment and support to the most vulnerable members of our community. We are deeply grateful for your time, energy, and the spirit of service you brought to the event."
