Lichfield Charity Launches Tea Party Raffle to Combat Loneliness
A Lichfield-based charity is calling on the community to put the kettle on this spring and help tackle loneliness through a special partnership with a renowned British cutlery manufacturer. The not-for-profit organisation Grace Cares has joined forces with Arthur Price to launch a charity raffle in celebration of National Tea Party Day.
Raffle Details and Partnership
The partnership features a beautiful Arthur Price Everyday Classic 44 Piece Boxed Set, a stainless steel cutlery set designed for six place settings with a retail value of £279. This set will be raffled to raise crucial funds for Grace Cares' hardship grants and community programmes, which support older people and unpaid caregivers across the region.
Raffle tickets are priced at £10 each, with all proceeds directly benefiting Grace Cares' mission to make care sustainable—socially, environmentally, and financially. The winning ticket will be drawn on National Tea Party Day, April 21, highlighting the simple yet powerful act of sharing food, conversation, and connection.
The Impact of Loneliness
Loneliness remains one of the most significant challenges facing older people in the UK. According to Age UK, approximately 1.4 million older individuals report often feeling lonely. Data from the Office for National Statistics underscores the serious impact chronic loneliness can have on overall wellbeing and health.
Yet, something as straightforward as a cup of tea and a friendly chat can make a meaningful difference in alleviating these feelings.
Quotes from Organisers
Hannah Montgomery, co-founder of Grace Cares, emphasised the importance of this initiative: "Sharing tea and cake might seem simple, but moments of connection are incredibly powerful. National Tea Party Day felt like the perfect opportunity to bring people together while raising funds to support older people and unpaid caregivers in our community."
Simon Price, chairman of Arthur Price, added: "The statistics about loneliness are incredibly sad, and we want to help in any way we can to bring people together. We're delighted to partner with Grace Cares in supporting older people in the community, and we hope this raffle helps spark more connections and friendships."
Community Involvement
Beyond the raffle, Grace Cares is encouraging local residents to get involved by hosting their own tea parties for older people. Hannah Montgomery further explained: "If anyone would like to host a tea party for older people in their community, we would absolutely love to hear from you. A cup of tea, a slice of cake, and good conversation can make a real difference."
How to Participate
Members of the public can support the campaign in two key ways:
- Purchasing a £10 raffle ticket for a chance to win the Arthur Price Everyday Classic cutlery set.
- Hosting a tea party for older people in their local community.
This initiative not only raises funds but also fosters community spirit and connection, addressing loneliness through shared experiences and support.
