Kitchen Chorus Choir Raises Over £4,000 for Maggie's Cancer Care in Nottingham

The Kitchen Chorus Choir has successfully raised more than £4,000 for Maggie's Cancer Care, which is based at the City Hospital in Nottingham. This significant sum was generated through their Christmas Concert held in Belper on December 16, 2025, as well as various other fundraising activities conducted during the festive season at the end of last year.

Choir's Charitable Mission and Past Efforts

The Kitchen Chorus is not only a highly active and inclusive choir but also has a dedicated mission to use its performances and events to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes that are close to its members' hearts. In the previous year, the choir selected Pauline and Derek Latham's charity, The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust, as their beneficiary. Derek is a member of the choir, and the charity was established following the tragic loss of their son to an aortic dissection. The year before that, the choir raised substantial funds in support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to philanthropy.

Focus on Maggie's Cancer Care This Year

For the current year, Maggie's Cancer Care has been chosen as the primary charity for the Kitchen Chorus Choir. Maggie's provides essential support for individuals and families living with cancer through its extensive network of centres across the United Kingdom. The decision to support Maggie's was deeply personal for the choir, as one of its members lost a family member, Charlotte, to cancer in early 2025. The support offered by Maggie's in Nottingham during this difficult time was described as incredible, providing both practical and emotional assistance to Charlotte and her family.

Maggie's Cancer Care offers free support to anyone affected by any type of cancer, at any stage, without any government funding, relying entirely on donations from supporters like the Kitchen Chorus Choir.

Upcoming Cheque Presentation Event

On Friday, February 20, at 2 pm, Dave Halford, the conductor of the Kitchen Chorus, along with several choir members, will visit Maggie's Cancer Care at the City Hospital in Nottingham. They will hand over a cheque for the amount raised at the Christmas Concert held at St Peter's Church in Belper. This visit will also provide an opportunity for the choir to meet the Maggie's team and gain a deeper understanding of the invaluable services they provide to the community.
