Ed Sheeran's Quirky Donations Raise Funds for Children's Hospice in Online Auction
Ed Sheeran's personal items auctioned for children's hospice

Global music star Ed Sheeran is once again channelling his star power for a vital local cause, with a fresh batch of his personal possessions set to go under the virtual hammer. The unique online auction aims to raise crucial funds for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH), a charity the singer has championed for a decade.

From Glasses to Trainers: A Quirky Collection for Sale

Nearly 60 individual items, all donated by the chart-topper and his family, will feature in a special seven-day sale on the charity's official eBay site. The auction is scheduled to go live at 7pm on Sunday, December 7. The eclectic mix includes a pair of the singer's eco-friendly glasses, his worn Nike Air Max 90 trainers, a beaded friendship bracelet, and a set of 'mummy and daddy to be' mugs.

Every lot in the collection, which was delivered to the EACH shop in Framlingham's Bridge Street, will start with an accessible opening bid of £9.99. As with previous sales, any clothing items will be sold as received, unwashed and unironed, and will come with a signed letter of authenticity to guarantee their provenance.

A History of High-Profile Support

Ed Sheeran became an official Ambassador for EACH back in 2014 and has been a steadfast supporter ever since. Scott Campbell, EACH’s eCommerce Manager, expressed profound gratitude for this ongoing relationship. "Ed and his family have donated a wealth of garments and accessories over many years, generating so much excitement and fascination," he said.

He highlighted the incredible impact of the singer's contributions: "Since our first auction in 2016, we’ve raised over £70,000 on his second-hand clothing alone. It’s an extraordinary amount, and we realise how lucky we are to have such high-profile support. It’s invaluable."

Past auctions have seen remarkable prices achieved for Sheeran's items:

  • A pink, medium-sized Ipswich Town football shirt, designed with Ed and worn by him, sold for £592.
  • A signed Heinz tomato ketchup bottle, inspired by his famous tattoo, fetched £470.
  • A worn Ralph Lauren hoodie raised £333.

Global Spotlight on Local Care

Sheeran's support extends far beyond donating items. He has visited families and staff at The Treehouse hospice in Ipswich and performed an acoustic set at a 2016 gala fundraiser at Cambridge’s Natural History Museum. That single evening raised more than £262,000, boosted by the sale of a drum kit he donated for £2,650.

This latest auction continues his mission to shine a global light on the specialist care EACH provides for children with life-threatening conditions and their families across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, and beyond. Fans not browsing online can also visit the EACH shop in Framlingham, Suffolk, where a selection of his donations remains for sale, offering a chance to pick up a unique piece of memorabilia in time for Christmas.
