Knowsley MD to Scale Mount Aconcagua for Southport Lifeboat Charity
Forshaw Group MD's Aconcagua Charity Challenge

The managing director of a Merseyside restoration firm is preparing for a gruelling high-altitude charity challenge in Argentina, aiming to raise thousands for a local life-saving service.

From Everest to Aconcagua: The Next Summit

Liam Hanlon, managing director of Knowsley-based The Forshaw Group, is once again teaming up with the charitable enterprise Tri-4-Life. The group, formed in remembrance and friendship, uses extreme physical endeavours to promote healthy lifestyles and raise money for good causes.

Following successful ascents of Mount Everest in 2022 and Mount Kilimanjaro in 2024, the team is now targeting the 6,961-meter peak of Mount Aconcagua. This mountain is the highest outside the Himalayas and forms part of the famed Seven Summits Challenge—climbing the highest peak on each continent.

A Race Against Time and Altitude

The team begins its trek on Tuesday, January 6, with a summit window of just five days. The aim is to complete the entire challenge by Saturday, January 24.

"With its bone-chilling temperatures and punishing altitude, Mount Aconcagua presents a brutal and unforgiving challenge in every sense," said Liam Hanlon. He added that it promises to be another unforgettable adventure in support of a worthy cause.

Funding a Vital Voluntary Service

Funds raised from this daring climb will support the Southport Lifeboat, operated by the Southport Offshore Rescue Trust. This service is independent of the RNLI and receives no government funding, relying entirely on donations to meet its £70,000 annual running costs.

"The Southport Lifeboat crew, including myself, commit their time and effort freely; they receive no payment at all, it’s completely voluntary," Hanlon explained. "Any donations to keep this essential service running would be most welcome."

The Forshaw Group, which specialises in restoring fire and flood-damaged properties across the North West, has a strong commitment to supporting community and charitable initiatives locally and internationally.

To support the Aconcagua Challenge, donations can be made via the official Southport Lifeboat donation page, specifying the climb as the reason for giving.
